Biosafety

Our university is not permitted to purchase biological materials classified as Biosafety Level 2 or above, such as Staphylococcus aureus or Pseudomonas aeruginosa (for details, please refer to Regulatory Annexes 2–4 at the link provided).

From 7th November 2017, our university’s Institutional Biosafety Committee has been formally dissolved with the approval of the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control.

The university may purchase general biological materials, such as Escherichia Coli.
*The Organizational Guidelines of the Institutional Biosafety Committee remain in force, and meetings are convened on a regular basis.
**If a laboratory needs to use biological materials classified as Level 2 or above, the relevant laws and regulations must first be reviewed, and the Office of Environmental Safety and Health must be notified.
***The purchase of Level 2 or higher biological materials will only be permitted after our university has applied to the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control to re‑establish the Institutional Biosafety Committee. Only then may a biosafety laboratory and a laboratory safety officer be designated. All related documentation will be subject to official control and audit, and materials may be purchased only after planning and installation are completed.

Any violation of the relevant regulations of the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control or of this university’s internal rules will result in the individual concerned bearing full legal responsibility.
